Athens
It's been over 40 years since I have visited Athens and much has changed. Although the city is still surrounded by ancient artifacts, all worthy of a visit, the amount of deterioration was astounding. No longer can one stand on the steps to the Parthenon to view its interior however, the small on site museum of the past has been replaced by an enormous Acropolis Museum steps from the original site. Here they are restoring the Acropolis and Parthenon piece by piece. Here's a link to what's been going on if you're interested.
We only had a few days here so we visited the museum and Acropolis, had a few good meals at a local taverna, visited the Monastiraki flea market, and the tomb of the unknown soldier in Syntagma Square. We were lucky enough to be there on a Sunday morning to see the changing of the guard and all its pomp and circumstance.

Athens 2025
Before we knew it we were walking through town to catch the train to the airport and back to reality. It was a whirlwind of a few weeks and we are grateful that we had this time to spend with our boys, Gal and her family. Hoping to make a return trip to Israel soon.
