Yet another travel day for Boat Time! Up and off the docks early, initially heading to Tarpon Springs with our friends from “no Worries” and “Jagger” but there wasn’t a marina to be found so we continued on to Clearwater Beach Marina. Much of the day was calm with the requisite number of crab pots to dodge. The last few hours were pretty dicey with 2-3 foot waves, thankfully on our bow! Long day today (9 &1/2 hours) so we decided to stay for a few nights and explore the town of Tarpon Springs.

Tarpon Springs is a neat waterfront town that boasts the highest percentage of Greek Americans in the U.S.- opa! When reviewing the history it seems that back in the late 1800’s Greek immigrants came here to work in the sponge business. There is so much Greek influence here that the street signs are in Greek and English. We were here the day before Epiphany and the atmosphere was one of celebration. Took a short bus ride to town with our friends Scott & Starlet and spent the day exploring the town. Finally able to purchase some “real” Greek cheese so I was a happy camper. Ended up staying a few days here to rest, do laundry and go food shopping as we hear there is not much in Bradenton or further down the ICW.

Our trip on day 198.

Ended at Clearwater

Day 198 Onto Tarpon Springs? Clearwater? Ok, & Day 199.
