Today Dan and I were up early and took a walk on the beach in Tel Aviv. The beach here is beautiful with fine white sand and clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. Today was Friday and we learned that every Friday is hummus for breakfast day. Adam and Gal typically invite some friends and family to join them at their favorite restaurant for hummu. Today we met Gal’s aunt Hila and uncle Gal who live near Gaza and met up with Gal’s mom Orly, our chauffeur for the remainder of the week. In the afternoon we packed up the car and all headed to Jerusalem and a traditional Shabbat dinner at Orly’s friend’s house Nivah & Mickey.

Jerusalem is a beautiful city and of course one of the holiest cities in Israel. Here in Jerusalem we stayed at the Gloria Hotel in the old city right inside the Jaffa gate. Tomorrow our plan is to take a drive to the desert and hike Masada.
