Today was the coldest morning yet.  Started the day early to a chilly 49 degrees.  We set out early as the next lock is 2 hours away.  Our intent was to meet up with “Sanctuary “,  hopefully at Fenelon Falls, and lock through with him today. Our expected destination was Bolsever.  Unfortunately the fog became worse as we traveled and ended up turning and waiting for the fog to lift.  Finally left at 8 am and met up with “Sanctuary” briefly at Fenelon Falls.  This is a beautiful lock, with the town situated on the banks of the river.

We should pass the highest point on the Trent today at Rosedale lock -841 feet, or 870’ - depending on what source you use.  Rosedale is another pristine park having hiking trails, fire pits, picnic tables, etc. From here on we will be locking down.

We went through the lock at Kirkfield, the other lift lock on this canal system. There was a little wait here as only one “tub” was in use.  Our plan was to stay at the next wall in Bolsover, but there was no room to tie up to the wall.  The lock master called ahead and found us a spot at Talbot, a mere 15 minutes away.

Today was a long day for locks having about eight or more hours of travel. I hit the wall when he arrived at Talbot and took a much-needed nap. Heading to Orillia tomorrow where we will stock up on groceries before spending some time in Georgian Bay and the North Channel. Our plan is to stay at the Port of Orillia marina at the edge of town.
