This morning Dan and I took a brief walk through the ramparts of the city and the market place. The ramparts walk was challenging having many twist and turns as well as slippery stairs although worth it for the views. We are leaving early because today is Jerusalem day and they were many demonstrations and parades occurring in the city. Adam, Orly, Dan and I left early to head to Nazareth to visit the Church of the Annunciation. Gal, having school, will meet up with us tonight wherever we land.
It was another hot day. Driving on narrow, winding roads through the city we soon found a parking space near the church. After a tour of the church we, of course, went out to lunch at a restaurant recommended by one of Orly‘s friends. The walk through Nazareth was quite sad as there is a dispute regarding trash disposal. The streets were full of trash, some obviously had been burned in the streets.
After lunch we stopped for dessert at a nearby bakery and then back to the car, continuing north for a short ride to the Sea of Galilee for a dip here and in the river Jordan. This is a beautiful area with many scenic views and rich history.
