We took the ferry today to Mackinac Island with Ali & Keith - "Journey". The weather was beautiful, in the low 70s. Spent the day exploring the island and visiting a few of the historic sites, butterfly world, as well as the numerous fudge stores that line Main Street.
The island is like a flashback to the 1800's. The first thing that you are aware of is the overpowering smell of manure! The island has no power vehicles of any kind, including no electric bikes. Only horses and bicycles to move everything including supplies to stores and restaurants.
The view from Fort Mackinac was spectacular. The coastline and the clear blue water reminds me of the small islands in Greece or the Caribbean.
