Seems like we could be here in Saint Ignace for several days. Although it is warm – mid to upper 80s – the winds are 15 to 20 mph. This is a bit rough to venture down the coast of Lake Michigan as the weather on the lake can change literally in minutes.  Sounds a bit like New England, yes?

There is a great deal to do here in St. Ignace as it is a large waterfront city. The marina appears to be the center of activity for Labor Day activities. This weekend there was a farmer's market and an arts and crafts festival set up in the marina parking lot.  Spent some time visiting the fair, shopping for gifts and making dinner.  Kathy and Dave from "Ramble on II" joined us for a potluck dinner of eggplant, parmesan, salad and dessert.  Still not loving my oven as it took about an hour to warm it through and melt the cheese.  Something we will need to address when we are sitting in Florida for a few months this winter.

Sunday was another lazy day. We took several brief walks round town today including strolling through the craft fair again and took a walk to get ice cream and pasties with Ali.  Pasties are similar to a meat pie and are quite popular in this area.  It's always good to try the local food and experience something different.   We think we will be staying tomorrow so we plan to complete the Mackinac City bridge walk. It is quite an event here and the city shuts down the bridge, the traffic, including boat traffic under the bridge. This walk began in the 1950s and has become an annual Labor Day event.

Late in the day the captains met to discuss our plans for moving forward.  It seems we will be missing the bridge walk and leaving St. Ignace ~ 4 a.m. to clear the bridge before the shut down.  I am not real keen about traveling in the dark tomorrow, or getting up at 3 a.m. to move on, but it has been decided.  Yet another adventure on this trip.
