Days 32-36 Traveling to Galveston

Days 32-36 Traveling to Galveston
Gulfport, MS

Over the next 5 days we stopped at several Harvest Hosts heading to Galveston Island State Park. Our first stop was Chandeleur Brewing in Gulfport, MS. We decided to stop at Gulfport rather than Biloxi as it is a quiet downtown and seemed to move at a much slower pace. It is known for its casinos and beaches. As we are not gamblers we thought about the beach but it was quite cold with some light rain the day we spent here. Our stop here was pleasant, although it was nothing more than a parking space in their lot near to historic downtown and the waterfront.

The trip Sugarfield Spirits in Gonzales, LA was another short day. It was a surprisingly popular stop and while we were there a busload of travelers from a Viking Cruise Ship stopped in for a tasting and tour of the facility.

Last stop before Galveston was another Harvest Host - Ceccoli Vineyards. Although we are not wine drinkers this was our favorite stop yet. The host opened up especially for harvest host participants and posted the names of those who would be staying here. Made it easy to meet other RVers that are traveling across the country. We met one couple who are planning on doing "the loop" on a boat next year. Hoping to host them in 2027!

A beautiful tradition in this part of the country is that they leave up their Christmas trees until Mardi Gras. They simply add Mardi Gras ornaments to their trees. This one was in a gas station of all places!

*Note the price of gas & diesel in this part of the country! Making travel more affordable.
