Who doesn't know the song Galveston by Glen Campbell? Follow the link and check it out. We decided to follow the coast of Texas although it is really past beach season. As New Englanders, and loving the ocean, we can sit on the beach no matter the weather. OK, but maybe not in the rain. No rain during our visit although one day was sunny and in the 70's, the next was sunny, in the high 50's and windy.

I was very excited when we arrived at Galveston State Park and saw the Roseate Spoonbill on the cover of their brochure. We did a bit of beaching, a bit of walks along the shore and some birding here although the Roseate Spoonbill was still elusive!

We also took a day trip to Houston and visited the Space Center Houston. Although we have visited the museum in Cape Canaveral we decided that this is actually where the words were spoken-"Houston we've had a problem". (Follow the link if you are interested in the story). We enjoyed this museum as there were numerous volunteers eager to share stories about each exhibit we visited.

Our trip on day 36. We try to keep them short, under 4 hours. Today was an especially short drive.
