Days 57-59 Carlsbad Caverns and Roswell

Carlsbad Caverns are located in the Guadalupe Mountains of New Mexico. Although we have visited several caverns, including those in Kentucky, nothing compared to the size of this massive cavern. We visited the Big Room which covers over 8 acres and took us over two hours to explore. Very impressive and something that you need to see to have an idea of just how vast they are.

We decided to stay in the area for a few days and rest up for our 2-3 day trip to our next stop. Since we were close to Roswell we decided to do the tourist "thing" and ventured off to Roswell and the UFO museum. You may know about the "Roswell Incident" as it is referred to when back in 1947. After watching a variety of videos and reading about 100 plaques I am thinking that whatever went on here was suppressed by the government at the time. Seems there were announcements that were later retracted and stated that it was a weather balloon. Several years later a book was written regarding the incident and cover up.
